We stumbled upon this American grill by chance. We figured that with a name like "Locals", local residents would frequent it...so maybe we should. We were greeted at the door with a smile and quickly led to a table for six. We started with mozzarella cheese sticks which were decent. The kids had chicken fingers and burgers and we had the French dip and German sausage sandwich. All was good, but what made our experience pleasant was our waiter. He went over and beyond to make sure we were happy. Next time we'll try the pizza.

4 words....Sweet potato tater tots! I had lunch here today and if you like sweet potato fries, then you will LOVE the tater tots version. I hadnt seen them anyplace else so I knew I had to try them. Quick and friendly service here at Local's. The only issue today was when our orders arrived, they only brought 2 of the 3 orders, forgetting to start on my order, but it wasnt a huge deal to me as they at least had already brought me the tater tots and that made up for me having to a few more minutes while my order was being prepared. I had ordered the meatloaf special which according to our waiter was a family recipe of the owners of Local's, so I was looking forward to it regardless of having to wait a bit longer for it. The meatloaf was good. Smothered in brown gray and came with mashed potatoes and carrots. I didnt leave Local's feeling stuffed which is good, and the serving was plenty. There's nothing fancy about Local's, which I'm OK with. Lots of different decor on the walls, mostly sports related. Theres plenty on the menu to choose from and I know I will try something else the next time I'm there. But you can bet that the next time I'm there I will again get the sweet potato tater tots also.

The service was quick and friendly. Dishes were served quickly and hot. The food we had was good and filling but not spectacular. They serve good comfort food in a family friendly, sport restaurant setting.

The food at Local's Grill is not gourmet in the slightest. I used to love coming to this yesterday back in the early 2000's, but upon my last visit I was sorely disappointed with the food. I ordered a simple spinach salad with chicken and it came with this huge pieces of raw onions. The chicken was dry and seemed like it had been frozen previously and just microwaved to be "hot". My father ordered the ruben and it came with these sad little fries that, again, were previously frozen and weren't seasoned at all. Everything tastes like it comes out of a box, no freshness whatsoever. I would not recommend this place.

AVOID THIS PLACE - AWFUL! Went here yesterday for a quick bite and had the most awful experience! Save your money and do not come here! Paid extra for the sweet potato tots, took a bite and had the most disgusting taste (dishsoap???). Waitress was standing at the table as I'm trying to determine what the taste was and asked if I wanted to finish my plate or can she take it away. Seriously!!! We paid and left but as we're walking around, my tongue goes numb and after 20 minutes, I returned to the restaurant requesting to speak to the manager. I told her about the sweet potato tot, how my tongue is numb and that they should pull that item off the menu so that others wouldn't have the same experience. I also asked how the tot was cooked so that I can determine if I'm experiencing an allergic reaction. She went to speak to another manager and a man came out of the kitchen, attacking me as why I am returning now to complain!!! I went there to inform them that there is obviously a problem with a product they are serving and as a result, my tongue went numb (and later resulted in blisters) but instead of appreciating the fact that I came back to inform them with the intent to help prevent further incident, he is defensive and unconcern. DO NOT SUPPORT this place as they obviously do not care for their customers.

Mediocre. The food is edible, but it's only okay. I had the spicey chicken sandwich. The ingridents are fresh, but the flavor combination is bland... not at all spicey. Even the fries are blah. Not sure there's a better alternative in Estes Park, but the food is definitely unimpressive. The service, however, is pretty good.

We had a good experience. We walked in for lunch and had good service. The waitress was nice and provided great service. She did not charge us for the kids drinks. My wife ordered a Ruben, and I split a French dip with my 10 year old. All the sandwiches were delicious. The 6 year old got a plain burger. I think we paid about $38 for the whole order. Nice place to eat, and we really liked the sandwiches. We will probably go back once more before we leave E.P. KC from Austin, TX

Stopped in for a quick lunch just after they opened. Staff was friendly, not too quick but their day was just getting started. The sandwiches were good, but the standard around town is very high. Not too expensive for being on the main drag.

I didn't even know Estes Park existed. We couldn't find a place to eat around all the tourists... I was in culture shock mode... The server kept checking in to make sure we hadn't found a roach on our burger... 'Is everything still all right" should have given us an idea. I didn't get sick, but just the idea that I ate there gives me a stomach ache... Only if you are desperate... still avoid... go for ice cream across the street...

The salads and medium three topping pizza for 14.00 seemed like a great lunch idea. We chose a spinach, artichoke and chicken pizza. The salads were good. Fresh ingredients. The pizza? Here is how bland the pizza was....we were starving...had skipped breakfast....and left over half the pizza uneaten. The waitress asked if we wanted a box. We said...."No..the pizza had no flavor...we did not enjoy it !" She replies.."Oh, you should have ordered the "Old World" sauce. That's much better!"...and proceeded to hand us the check. Mind you, she did not SUGGEST the sauce at the time we ordered it. And the pizza had zero spices. No Italian seasoning, no basil, no hint of garlic. My husband wanted to put some yellow mustard on it. And he is not a picky eater ! We wished that we had saved our money and just had Brats and beer at the autumn festival down the street. : (

Either we caught them on a good day, or these other people have never been to a small town diner or restaurant, because the seven of us thought it was pretty great. The atmosphere is plenty clean, no roaches or whatever someone thought they'd see. Six of us had the BBQ pork sandwich with fries for $7.99. Both were great. One had the rueben and it was also great. Affordable and nice.

Nestled in the heart of the tourist trap known as Estes Park, we venture in search of some of Italy's finest... PIZZA: Taste: Not good. Canned sauce. At least the crust was crunchy. Overpriced: $7 ($8.50 after tax/tip) for a 7" pie. eek Not sure of the rest of the menu, but this place has bad pizza (if you can call it that). Avoid the pizza. (Why would I order pizza from a place called Local's Grill? Well, my son is a "pizza head" and that's what he wanted for lunch.)

We were desperate for lunch and hadn't a clue where to go. Just stopped in on a whim. Atmosphere isn't that great. Ok diner kind of a look. Could be cleaner. Hubby ordered a veggie wrap and said it was good. I asked the server what she recommended. She said the Reuben sandwich. I went with that and substituted sweet potato tots for regular fries. I thought the tots were good and the reuben was great. Loved the rye bread and it was actually really good.

On the tourist strip of downtown, we were hungry and it was there. The entire menu consists of stuff that was made in a factory, shipped in frozen, bagged or canned and then warmed before bringing to your table. You can just taste it. The kid's Mac 'n' Cheese was some version of Kraft Easy-Mac etc. The meal just had a "it's Wednesday and I don't really feel like cooking" feel to it. It was all edible, but that's about it. Our server was good and nice (it was empty at about 2p), and really saved this from a 1-star. There really isn't much else to say; they have a few old video games in the back that are fun. Think of it as a small arcade with food and this could be a better place. I won't be back.

My wife & i ordered hamburgers. First off, they got both our toppings wrong. Second, it looked like they grabbed a fist full of shredded lettuce, pickles & onions, closed their eyes & threw it on the plate. Both burgers tasted like they had been cooked & reheated several times. Both were black as coal, so hard I thought I would break a tooth biting it, and absolutely flavorless, except for a char taste. I would not have even given it to my dog. For these 2 hockey pucks (n beverage or sides) it cost us $23.00.

I wish I could give no stars as my visit here was SERIOUSLY terrible. You'd think that a restaurant on the main drag of Estes Park would be a good spot to stop, but we were very wrong. When you walk in, the place smells like dirty dish rags. When my friend didn't notice this, I didn't say anything but should have. The wait staff is rude. Our waiter listened in to our conversation and basically confronted us about our "fight". Really? The food was subpar. I can usually go for a dive bar meal, but this was terrible. Overpriced for what it was. And within an hour, I vomited. I thought maybe this was just coincidental and had to do with the altitude, but then my friend also got sick. Thanks for the food poisoning, Local's Grill!

I thought it would be much better. My son said it was close to dorm food. Average to below average. I had the fish and chips and it was ok, that's it. French fries tasted funky to me. My son said he thought they tasted fine. My wife and other son had the "home-style" kettle chips that the waitress (strange but friendly woman) recommended. They both complained that they tasted like they were not cooked that day. I wouldn't go back or recommend it. Hope you read this before you make the mistake of eating here.

We got hungry while walking around estes park and stumbled across locals. The name is what caught our attention. Well, definitely should have looked up reviews on yelp before hand. Service was good, very quick, but we were the only ones in there. Food was not good! Wish I would have taken my money somewhere else.

Terrible service for a Monday in June; Prime tourist season! Refused to serve our large group even though we were seated separately. Very rude servers. When we asked to talk to the manager, we were told they were short staffed and he was cooking in the back. Only thing we ate was the chips and salsa and they were stale, overpriced, and I'm sure the salsa was a cheap store brand.

Avoid this place like the plague. My boyfriend and I come to Estes at least a few times a year and went here for the first time today and will never be going back. The food is nothing special at all - I'm convinced at least half of it comes from a can or a box and is just warmed to be put on your plate. Even worse is that we got sick from the food we hardly even enjoyed. So sick that we now get to spend our last night in Estes stuck in our hotel room. What a bummer. Service is fast and friendly. Price isn't bad. Arcade games in the back are cute, but let me tell you, I would recommend any and every other restaurant in Estes Park over this place.

We went there on March of 2015 and my girlfriend ordered a cup of French onion soup. I am not kidding when I say that it came with 4 tablespoons of soup. When I mentioned this to the server she brought the owner out and he said it's a cup, we put 4oz and that is a cup. First a cup has 8oz.. Second the guy was not just rude but gave me such a bad attitude I stood up to leave and put $4 down. At that point he actually through a fit and threatened me! I then grabbed my $4 and started for the door where he actually laid a hand on me and tried to block the door. Then I said, "call the cops" and that prompted him to mellow out. I spoke with the hotel staff about it and they laughed as it wasn't the first time they heard the same complaint. They did mention that he wasn't a local and the locals don't go there. The locals that I met are the friendliest people and this guy was just the opposite. Not to mention violent and not so smart. I kind of think you don't treat people that way if you want to stay in business. When I called the waitress couldn't care less about my experience and actually hung up on me! It laughable. I think the only good reviews are from the owner and staff about themselves. All the rest are pretty bad.

Terrible. Avoid at all costs. Food not good and overpriced. I have never had such thin onion rings. Never want to go here again. I do not know how they stay open (probably because in downtown).

During my last trip to Estes Park with my mother, we poked our heads in to Local's Grill for a bit of lunch. We both spotted something that looked enticing on the menu that was posted, so we were easily sold. Local's Grill is super warm and friendly! We were immediately greeted by whom I will assume was the manager and quickly sat. I'm not sure if locals actually stop here, but it sure felt like it. The space isn't anything special: sports memorabilia adorn the walls, worn tables and chairs, and super squishy booths. It certainly feels like a hometown local watering hole. We quickly ordered up our selections of cordon bleu and sliders. We also opted to try an Estes Park Brewery raspberry wheat as well. Everything arrived quickly and we dug in. Nothing was spectacular, but everything hit the spot. I wouldn't mind stopping at Local's Grill again when in Estes Park, but I have a feeling there are plenty of other locales throughout the area with much better food. Cool little place that definitely makes you feel at home!

Stopped in for a bite this afternoon. Service was friendly but incompetent. My plate was picked up before I'd finished eating.. But it probably didn't matter since the food tasted like sub-par bowling alley crap. We asked the waitress at the beginning to split the check and again when the bill came. She said, "in half" which would have been totally uneven and obviously not what we wanted as we had already stated. The cards came back split directly in half. Spent almost $30 on a kids meal that was previously frozen and a sandwich containing a hair and cold fries. Yay. Not returning.

Food was good, not great but good. I could complain about the price but it's Estes park and everything but taco bell is expensive. The service was ok, had to ask for refills but other than that it was good.

The service is friendly and amazing. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. The place is clean, the bathrooms are clean, the prices are good and the sweat tea is off the hook and can give any sweet tea from Texas a run for its money (I'm from Texas and here on vacation). I had the steak and shrimp po boy (prime rib) and it was out of this world! Cold PBR in the bottle and it's conveniently located. Our bill was $101 for 7 people. Completely budget friendly with food far above par for such great pricing and VERY attentive service from the staff. My next trip to the Rockies will definitely bring me back in the doors. The only fault of this place is that they're huge Green Bay Packers fans.. But it's worth overlooking for the excellence of everything else. At least they're not Raiders fans. Hahaha. Thanks folks, perfect way for us to end our trip to your great state!

If you like roaches and heated up old frozen food, then this is the place for you. I took my family from out of town here and wished after we ordered and saw the waitress scoop the roach off the floor that I took that as a sign the food was not going to be filling or satisfactory. The menu looked decent. My son ordered a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, easy enough, right? They gave him two packaged crustables and didn't even bother to take it out or make an attempt to appear as they made it. I ordered a Po'Boy, which was served on stale bread and dry steak. I couldn't finish it. My wife and mother ordered a chicken salad and chicken fingers. The breaded chicken and mozzarella sticks tasted frozen burnt and there wasn't enough ketchup to mask that unappealing flavor. I don't often complain, but was prepared to do so when asked, "how was your meal?", which never was asked since I can imagine our server anticipated the answer. Needless to say, I just wanted to leave and get on with the day. As I was leaving, I saw another roach making it's way inside. At least, something wanted to be a return customer.

Terrible. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with a side salad instead of fries. I know ordering a side salad costs more money, so I'm ok with that... but the salad was all brown and wilted I shouldn't have had to pay for this. The chicken sandwich was a tiny piece of chicken and the sauce was terrible. The bread was supposed to be a garlic type of bread... It was so dry, I ended up eating the small piece of "chicken" from the sandwich and the cucumbers from the "salad". We were never asked how everything was - because it was pretty obvious. Our bill was over $30 and we had only water with our meals. We are having our wedding next summer in Estes, so I will ensure none of my 200 wedding guests try this hole!

Rueben sandwich was perfect. Not over stuffed and perfectly toasted. The rest of the fried selections were good. A nice stop for a bite to eat.

Stopped in for an early dinner. We got pizza, salad, and sweet potato fries and they were all delicious. Everything was so fresh and probably the best sweet potato fries we've ever had. Server was very nice and attentive. Would definitely recommend coming in!

Just absolutely terrible in every way. I actually felt sorry for the guy who served me, because he was nice, but he had ZERO help. The bar tender, evidently the only other person working, looked me in the eye and said "HEY, SOMEONE'S HERE." Ugh, awful. The food was terrible, too, and I'm not even going to bother going in to detail about their runny chili and bucket of fries I got with a dry, crusty wrap. I ONLY went here out of desperation, because nothing was open on January 2nd. Don't ever go unless you feel the need to punish yourself. Not. Worth. It.

I came up for a fly fishing trip and stopped at Local's Grill for a quick meal. The food is decent (nothing to rave about) and the service is a little slower. Still, it's "OK" and one of the few more affordable meals in Estes park (where a person can eat under $10). I had chicken fingers which may or may not have been what you could buy frozen at the grocey store. My friend had a burger which he said was "fine" but wished we had stopped at fast food on the way up. Still, for a $20ish tab, it was fine.

    (3)
  • Matthew S.

I don't understand the other terrible reviews, but oh well. The food was fine. Nothing amazing, but fine. Good service. It was the first place in town we didn't spend $60+ to enjoy a meal. A decent, centrally located lunch spot. They do seem understaffed but it isn't so bad for lunch.

  • J T.

Worst food ever!!! My son ordered PB&J and he got a "uncrustable" still in the packaging and everything. You'd expect a restaurant could at lest put some dam peanut butter and jelly on bread right? Everyone else's meals sucked hard too, we all felt sick within an hour. Chef Ramsey would tear this place a new one. Don't ever, ever go here. You'd have better luck going to Safeway buying a frozen dinner and using their microwave. Use fresh food people! BARF!!!

I have 2 words for you - Ms. Pac-Man. Yes they have it. They also have a white merlot, which I found extremely odd and fascinating since this is a burger/diner sort of place. We popped in here for a quick drink during our Main Street shopping excursion and I thought it was awesome. The owner was there and chatted with us for a while about the town, the weather and Denver. I also ate a small salad that came with deliciously small, garlicy croutons. They really were the saving grace on what could have been a disaster of a side salad. The verdict? Try it for a casual lunch if you're ever in town. The locals here are very friendly.
